Jan P. Davidson, 72, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, in Shelbyville.

Born July 27, 1938, in Greenville, S.C., she was the daughter of M.L. and Anna (Jahnz) Powell Jr. She married Peter Stewart Davidson Sr. on June 4, 1960, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1995.

Survivors include sons, Pete (wife, Teresa) Davidson of Lexington, Ky. and Mike (wife, Debbie) Davidson of Brownsburg; daughter, Dawn (husband, Jeff) Thomas of Shelbyville; brother, Lee (wife, Bonnie) Powell of Greer, S.C.; sister, Kay (husband, Charles) Truluck of Charleston, S.C.; and grandchildren, Jeffrey (wife, Jamie) Davidson, Ben Davidson, Sam Davidson, Erica Thomas and Heather Thomas.

She also was preceded in death by her mother, father and stepmother, Dorothy Powell.

Mrs. Davidson graduated from Greenville (S.C.) High School in 1957 and from Medical University of South Carolina in 1960.

She had been director of nursing at Franklin United Methodist Home and retired in 1997 as school nurse for the Greenwood school system.

Mrs. Davidson was a member of Greenwood Wesleyan Church and attended Town and Country Christian Church.

She loved sports, enjoyed reading and was passionate about and supportive of the youth at Town and Country Christian Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Town and Country Christian Church, 2133 S. Tucker Road.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Pastors Don Bennett and Ian Farnsley officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Town and Country Christian Church Youth Group, 2133 S. Tucker Road, Shelbyville IN 46176.
