Gretna - George Thomas Lowe, Jr., age 81 of 2784 Old Mine Road, Gretna died Thursday, February 3, 2011 at his residence. Born April 20, 1929 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late George Thomas Lowe, Sr. and Maggie Reynolds Lowe. Mr. Lowe was predeceased by a sister, Billie Lowe Harmon; and a great-grandchild, Anthony Michael Estes. He was a member of Piney Fork Baptist Church, and a supervisor with Ennis Business Forms. Mr. Lowe enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and watching baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. He is survived by his wife of more than 59 years Fay Yeatts Lowe of the residence; two sons, George Thomas Lowe III of Chatham, and Glenn Lowe and his friend Cindi of Chatham; two daughters, Elizabeth Karen Lowe of Gretna, and Lisa Lowe Adams and her friend Glenn of Chatham; three grandchildren, Tony Estes and his wife, Christina, Jessica Adams and her fiancé, Jason Rowland, and Sarah Lowe; and two great-grandchildren, Destanee Estes, and Elijah Estes. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Mark Snodgrass. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, February 4, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is assisting the family.
