12/29/16: According to Cheryl Ayres: Please note you have Elizabeth as a sibling of Andrew, she is his mother. Notice her age is pretty close to the age of the Elizabeth Johnson on the 1930 census. She was the oldest of John & Nancy Adkins. George's family moved back from Kansas to West Virginia. Elizabeth Johnson was living with her sister Julia Lucas in 1920 Sheridan,Lincoln,WV.

12/28/16: According to Cheryl Ayres: The Elizabeth Johnson is listed as mother of Andrew Adkins. Alafair was the daughter of Francis Marion Johnson & Spicy Adkins. Alafair is living with her grandparents Merritt & Rhoda Johnson on the 1880 Cabell Co. Census. Death certificate is wrong on birth year, it should be 1871. Francis Marion & Spicy are on the 1870 Cabell Co. census with his parents, this census was enumerated in July,1870. Alafair was not born yet.

Confirmation of parentage:

F. M. Johnson was born in Cabell county in 1847 and married Emma McComas, who was born in Cabell County in 1857. Their marriage was solemnized in Lincoln County, November 12, 1880, and their two children are M. W., born January 9, 1882 and Walter, February 18, 1883. The first marriage of Mr. Johnson was with Spicy Adkins, who died, leaving him one child, Alafair, born March 10, 1871. Merrit and Rhoda (Adkins) Johnson are the parents of F. M. They made their home in Lincoln County in 1882. His wife is a daughter of T. J.and Catharine (McComas) McComas, who were born and raised in what is now Lincoln County. In 1874 F. M. Johnson came to Lincoln County, a man of energy and ability he soon established in a large mercantile business. His store is on Guyan River, but he is now riding as deputy sheriff of Lincoln.
