Professional Football Player. For eight seasons (1957 to 1964), he played at the right and left-guard positions in the National Football League with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins. Born John Edward Nisby, he attended Edison High School (Stockton) and played collegiate football at the University of the Pacific (California), while receiving his Bachelor's degree. Selected by the Green Bay Packers during the 6th round of the 1957 NFL Draft, Nisby would sign with Pittsburgh where he earned All-Pro status three consecutive times (1959 to 1961) and Pro Bowl honors twice (1959 and 1961). While with the Redskins he earned Pro-Bowl status in 1962 and All-Pro honors in 1963; he appeared in 102 career regular season games. Following his football career, Nisby (who earned his Master's degree from the University of Oregon) held a position with San Joaquin Delta College, and later served as a Stockton city councilman; he also worked in the real estate industry.
