Obituary - Stillwater News Press - Perkins - Ray Sadler
Ray Sadler farmed and raised cattle in the Perkins-Tryon area while also running the 4-Corners grocery store and gas station.
He operated the business for 13 years then worked at Oklahoma State University for 22 years before retiring in 1980.
He died on Monday, October 16, 1995, in his home at the age of 77.
His funeral is planned Wednesday, October 18, at 3 p. m. in the Perkins First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Gibson and the Rev. Susan Ross officiating.
Strode Funeral Home of Stillwater is handling the arrangements, which include interment in Tryon Cemetery.
Sadler was born March 25, 1918, near Carney to Amos and Norah (Gaither) Sadler. He grew up in the Tryon area where he attended school.
He married Amanda Hicks on September 8, 1937, in Chandler and they lived in the Perkins-Tryon area until they moved into Perkins in 1993.
He was a member of the First United Methhodist Church of Perkins and was predeceased by his parents and one grandson Jeffery Allen Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Earl Miner of Drumright and Patty and Gerry Johnson of Perkins; three grandchildren, Ricky Miner and Rusty Miner, both of Drumright, and Tammy Johnson Stites of Perkins; four great-grandchildren, Brandi and Brooke Miner and Kelsie Miner of Grumright and Alexandria Stites of Perkins, and one foster great-grandchild, Bill Kuykendall of Drumright, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Sadler is also survived by two brothers, Palmer Sadler and Wendell Sadler, both of Perkins; and one sister, Julia Sadler Bartram of Parker, Colorado.
Memorials may be sent to the Judith Karman Hospice, 824 S. Main, Stillwater 74074.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Russell, Jerry Sloan, Porky Harmon, Elvin Jones, Wesley Anderson, Gerald Johnson, Tim Fox and Danny Westfall.
