Pearlie M. Jacobs

CONWAY Pearlie M. Jacobs, 86, of Magrath Avenue, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at home after an illness.

He was born in Loris, a son of the late John Clinton and Cora Faircloth Jacobs.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Conway and a former deacon and member of the Annex Bible class. He was a farmer in the Pleasant Grove Church community and was a member and a deacon at Pleasant Grove Church. He began selling insurance with Liberty Life Insurance Co. in 1941 and helped sell stock and insurance with Investment Life & Trust Co. He was owner and operator of Pearlie Jacobs Insurance Agency in Conway and sold insurance for 61 years.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially quail hunting. He was a member of Gunters Island Hunting Club and Campfield Hunting Club. He was also a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge No. 65 AFM and a member of the Scottish Rite and Omar Temple of the Shrine of Charleston.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Prince Jacobs.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Jacobs and his wife, Doris, of Conway, and Roger Jacobs and his wife, Sandra, of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Hayward Jacobs of Charleston; two sisters, Estaleen Prince of Loris and Olene Lepidas of Cypress, Calif.; four grandchildren, Jarrett Jacobs and his wife, Dr. Ginger Jacobs, Dawn Haithcock and her husband, Tony, all of Conway, Holly Tweedell and her husband, Chris, and Amber Lynn Jacobs, all of Myrtle Beach; and two great-grandchildren, Maggie Haithcock and Skyler Jacobs, both of Conway.

Visitation was Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Conway. The Rev. Steve Hadden will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
