Lifelong Alaskan Walter David Pippel, 68, died May 12, 2008, at Hospice House in Harrison, Ark. His family wrote, "David is now at peace with his Savior in Heaven." A service was at Anchorage Baptist Temple with the Rev. Jerry Prevo officiating.
David was born July 21, 2008, in Palmer to Walter George and Melva Ann (Snider) Pippel. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, especially flowers. David served his country in both the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard as a supply sergeant. He was a member of the Anchorage Baptist Temple in Anchorage and was attending the First Baptist Church of Harrison. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge Chapter 1842, a past president of the Matanuska Rock Club and a member of The Pioneers of Alaska. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Jack and Jim Pippel; sister, Gayle Gum; and his nephew, Michael Pippel.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Pippel; stepdaughters and their spouses, Shirley White and Dwight of Alamogordo, N.M., Nancy Dennis and James of Palmer, Janet DesGranges and Joe of Harrison, Ark., stepdaughter: Patricia Huddleson and husband Danny of Palmer; sister, Karyle Palmer and Jack of El Cajon, Calif.; sister-in-law, Barbara Pippel of Wenatchee, Wash.; nephews and spouses, Anthony Pippel and Mimi of Palmer, Bill Pippel and Phylis of Arizona, Sean Pippel of Wenatchee; niece, Kelley Pippel of Wenatchee; great-nephews, Robby and Bill Pippel of Palmer; and many special friends.
