WINFIELD Ella Faye Lucas York, age 89, of Winfield, passed away Feb. 8, 2011, at Northwest Medical Center.

Mrs. York was born July 13, 1921, in Fayette County. She was the daughter of Plesasie Arlington Lucas and Rosie Lee Langston Lucas. A resident of Winfield most of her life, she was the widow of David Lee York. She worked 35 years in various garment plants in the Winfield, Guin and Brilliant areas. Mrs. York was a member of Gu-Win Baptist Church and attended Bethel Baptist Church for many years.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nell Hayes; sisters, Jessie Florence Lucas and Cora Mae South; and brothers, Hubert Felton Lucas and Ector Lucas.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris Miles of Winfield; sons, Jimmy Hayes of Haleyville and Jerry Hayes (Robin) of Fayette; nine grandchildren, Kent Hayes, Dana Lynn, Tony Hayes, Renee Wheat, Emily Hayes, Regina Miles, Tim Miles, Marty Miles and Tonyea Baldwin; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Willie Gray Bircheat of Fayette; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Miles Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Winfield City Cemetery with Miles Funeral Home of Winfield directing. Visitation will be today from 12 noon until time of service at the funeral home.
