Mrs. Horsley was born on November 5, 1944, the daughter of the late John Henry West and Dixie Blaylock West. She was a member of Shorter Avenue Baptist Church and had lived most of her life in Floyd County. Mrs. Horsley sang in the church choir and was active with the youth groups at her church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved flowers. Mrs. Horsley worked as a hostess for Days Inn and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kenneth W. Horsley, Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Wesley (Cindy Fergoda) Horsley, Jr. of Centre, AL, and Russell C. Horsley of Rome; daughters, Jennifer Aline (Jimmy) Horsley Smith of Kingston and Tara Lynne (Jamie) Horsley Wilson of Aragon, GA; grandchildren, Wesley Luke Smith of Kingston, GA and Makayla Joyce Wilson of Aragon, GA; two brothers, Jimmy (Jean) West of Adairsville, GA and John West of Fernley, NV; sisters, Grace (Johnny) Sparks of Adairsville, Jeri (Herbie) Swanson of Kennesaw and Millie (R.D.) Freeman of Adairsville; sister in-law, Wanda (Larry) Knowles; special friend, Diane Swafford of Rome. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Horsley will be held Sunday, June 27th at 2:00 pm at the Shorter Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Drummond officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church by 1:45 pm on Sunday and include, Gary Evans, Malcomb Swanson, Brian Freeman, Blaine West, Buster Knowles and Tony Swafford. Honorary pallbearers will be the Shorter Avenue Baptist Church Choir, Tony Cescutti, Mike Jones and Guy Nesbitt.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Rome Hematology/Oncology and Regional Radiation Oncology Center.
