J. H. Dundas, of Auburn died at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon after an illness of four days. Mr. Dundas came to Auburn in the early seventies and has been prominent in the life of the vicinity, active in Republican politics, serving one term in the senate in 1878.

In the early part of his residence in Auburn, he taught school. He then published the Granger, an Auburn paper, for about thirty five years. This paper was merged a few years ago with the Republican and Mr. Dundas retired from active life. His son, W.A. Dundas, is now foreman in the office of the Republican. Mr. Dundas was seventy four years old. He is survived by two sons and two daughters: W.A. Dundas, Auburn; L.B. Dundas, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Sam (Hollis M.) Curtis, Auburn; and Mrs. W.E. (Ada V.) Schroeder of Lincoln. Mrs. Dundas died about six years ago.
