An old man 89 years old perished in the snow storm that raged thro (sic) the country from Tuesday night until Friday. Mr. Wayne arrived in Aladdin Tuesday afternoon, and as none of his relatives were looking for him he rode with Chas. Wyman from here to the Red Water, a few miles above the ranch of Jeff Vane, where he expected to get in touch with his relatives. In the high wind and snow of Tuesday night he must have become confused and lost his way. As soon as his disappearance became know a searching party started out, only to find his dead body a short distance from Mr. Vore's house. Mr. Wayne was returning from a visit in Milwaukee, Wis., and it is not supposed he knew of his aged wife's sudden death, and funeral on Wednesday, the day after he arrived in Aladdin. Mr. Wayne was laid to rest beside his wife, in Beulah, Wyo., Saturday, April 20.

From the "Times" Sundance, Crook, WY. April 24, 1918 page 1Wm. L. Wayne, aged 89, was buried in the Buelah cemetery last Saturday afternoon beside the remains of his wife, who preceded him in death only two days. Mr. Wayne had just returned from the east and was informed at Aladdin that his wife had passed away, where upon he started for the ranch of his daughter southwest of Beulah to attend the funeral. He rode a distance with Mr. Wyman but near the Vore ranch he continued his journey on foot, expecting to get Mr. Vore to take him to his destination. This was Tuesday afternoon, the last seen of him alive. A severe storm was raging and it is thought the old gentleman became exhausted and perhaps bewildered, as his body was found the following Friday.

From the "Times" Sundance, Crook, WY April 24, 1918 page 8BEULAH AND VICINITYThe past week has been cold and very stormy. This community was saddened by two funerals the past week. They were the funerals of the aged couple, Mr. And Mrs. Wayne. The funeral of Mrs. Wayne, age 81, was held on Wednesday. No one knew at that time that her husband, suffering from the infirmaities of old age, had returned from Milwaukee without the knowledge of his people, becoming confused on his way from Aladdin, had wandered away and perished on the Bannerman ranch west of Beulah. On Thursday news reached here of his arrival and disappearance. Search parties were immediately organized, which on Friday were successful in recovering the body. The blizzard of Thursday rendered search difficult. Mr. Wayne was buried Saturday at the same hour that his wife had been. Services were held by the same minister and the same choir sang the same hymns for both. Mr. Wayne was born in 1829, and for several years the effect of his age caused him to be restless and rendered it impossible for his relatives and friends to keep track of his movements. The sympathy of the community goes out to the sons, daughters and other relatives.
