Bies, Elsie M. 81, of Pentwater, died Thursday Dec. 11, 2008. She was born in Chicago July 18, 1927 to Karl and Elizabeth (Ballentine) Ringwald. Mrs. Bies was a 1945 Pentwater High School graduate. She married Nicholas Bies June 26, 1948 in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 1994. She had been employed as a sales person for Illinois Bell Telephone and Goldblatts and later worked at Balfours Grocery and the Harbor Inn, both in Pentwater. Mrs. Bies was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, where she had taught Sunday school. Her interests included needle work of all kinds, and working with children. She was a Girl Scout leader. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Eddie) Hapon of Marne, Cheryl (Louis) Dennert of Hart and Nicholas Bies of Mears; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Krause, in 1998; granddaughter, Sarah Hapon; three brothers, Carl, Clarence and William Ringwald; two sisters, Elizabeth Roberts and Florence Holmquist. Interment in the Pentwater Township Cemetery.
