Benton Advocate, Benton Wisconsin, JESSE WELLS NIX
Jesse Wells Nix was born August 31, 1847 in Rochester, N. Y. and died September 27, 1928 at the home of his daughter Mrs. W. T. Smyth, Benton Wis.

The deceased had been a trouper for the past 60 years together with his son Frank and daughter Mrs. W. T. Smythe appearing before the footlights in many small and large cities until ill health caused by his declining years caused him to cease active work. In the past few years he has devoted his spare time in teaching violin lessons until two years ago when his eye sight failed.

His death removes on of Benton's most loved characters. His gentleness, sympathetic heart, his ever ready and true smile won for him the admiration, respect and confidence of many people. The numerous elaborate floral tributes gave mute testimony of he esteem and respect in which he was held.

The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon and 2 o'clock from the home of his daughter. Rev. S. S. George of the P. M. church officiating. Burial was made in the P. M. cemetery. The following acted as pallbearers: Verne and Albert Smythe, Geo. E. Alerson, P. F. McDonald, Cletus Bainbridge, Albert Vaughn. The flowers were carried by Emma Smythe, Genevieve Murry, Leona McCarty and Genevieve Peacock.

The deceased leaves three sons to mourn his death: Guy Nix, of Spokane, Wash.; B. W. Nix, of St. Paul; Frank Nix of Mather, Wis.; two daughters Ada Smythe of Benton, Wis.; May McHenry, of Portland, Oregon; two sisters Mrs. Clara Stur_vant, of Chicago; Mrs Emma Smith, of Bridghton, Canada, two brothers O. H. Nix, of Chicago and Norman E. Nix of Toronto, Canada.
