Stokes Barron Alexander Sr., 89, of 112 Mountain View Drive, husband of the late Brantly Johnstone Alexander, died peacefully at his home, Monday, Sept. 2, 2002.

Born in Seneca, he was a son of the late Joseph Frederick and Stokes Barron Alexander. He was a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy. Mr. Alexander was owner and operator of Alexander Drug Company from 1940 until his retirement in 1976. He was past President of the 13th District Pharmaceutical Association and was a member of the South Carolina Board of Pharmaceutical Examiners, serving as Chairman of the Board 1974-1975. Mr. Alexander was a member of the Easley Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a Deacon and Ruling Elder. He was a moderator of the Piedmont Presbytery in 1962.

He is survived by his son, Stokes Barron Alexander Jr. of Easley; his daughter and son-in-law, Caroline Alexander Causby and Ronnie Causby of Morganton, N.C.; three granddaughters, Andrea Watts of Lexington, Alina Brooks of Greenville, and Elizabeth Causby of Morganton; one grandson, Joe Causby of Morganton, N.C.; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dr. W.M. Alexander of Hendersonville, N.C.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Alexander was predeceased by three sisters, Eliza Dalton, Sallie Burke, and Florence Kelly; and two brothers, Harold Alexander and Joe Alexander.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Westview Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Zane Moore and the Rev. Linda Sharp. Visitation will follow the service in the parlor of the Easley Presbyterian Church.
