Franklin "Frank" Ewers was the eldest son of Joseph Crocker Ewers and first wife Eunice Livermore. Frank was born on the family homestead, located at the junction of Ewers Road and Williamston Road in Bunker Hill. The Ewers home is long gone, and the land is now part of the Dansville State Game Area.

Frank Ewers married Laura Hicks, daughter of Ambrose Hicks, on November 21, 1875 in Leslie, Ingham County, Michigan. Not long after their marriage they moved to Colorado. Their only child was born to them there in 1879, Emmett Emons Ewers. As a young man Emmett went to his father's home state to attend the University of Michigan, then moved to British Columbia, Canada, where he married. Emmett and his family ended up in Seattle, Washington, where they were joined by his mother Laura after Franklin's death. Laura Ewers passed away in Seattle on April 13, 1935.

Upon his death Frank's remains were cremated. It is assumed that he wished to be buried next to his mother here in this cemetery.

The following is from The Denver Sunday Times, October 15, 1899:

"Jefferson County's Republican Candidates

Frank Ewers, nominee for county commissioner, was not a candidate for any office, and only at the solicitation of his many friends could he be induced to take the nomination, and then only in the interest of good county government would he accept, and no better man for the place could have been found anywhere. Mr. Ewers is one of the most conservative, level headed business men in the county. Careful and economical always, and ever strictly reliable in word and action, he is a splendid executive and just the man needed to fill the important office of county commissioner.

Mr Ewers, for several years lived on a farm below Morrison, where his energy, thrift, and business like methods enabled him to acquire a competency and practically retire from active life. And when county commissioner he will follow the same principles and methods that have made him so eminently successful in private life."
