VINCENT SOWERSBY

SENECA, MO. - Vincent A. Sowersby, 77, Seneca route 2, died at 8:30 am Sunday at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a short illness.
Mr. Sowersby was born July 24, 1915 at Joplin. He was a life-long resident of the Joplin-Seneca area. He worked 25 years as a warehouse foreman for Interstate Grocery Company in Joplin. He and his wife owned and operated H&V Trading Post and Antiques, Hornet, for 10 years. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Joplin. He was a Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Phillipines.

He married Helen A. Buckingham on March 9, 1933. She survives.

Also surviving are a son;
Tim Sowersby of Seneca

three daughters;
Carolyn Ballard and
Linda Davis both of Seneca
and
Dixie Carver of Loveland, Colorado

a brother;
Kenneth Sowersby of Joplin

twin brother Victor L. Sowersby predeceased him on July 16, 1990

two sisters;
Jessie Baker of Grove, Oklahoma and
Norine Lawson Childress of Winslow, Arizona

12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and several great step-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at the Saginaw Cemetery.
Rev. John Bilyeu officiated.
Military rites were conducted by the Northeastern Oklahoma Veterans Funeral Detail
