Jonathan is the sixth generation down from Ralph Bleasdale/Blaisdell who arrived in America with his family on 15 Aug 1635 at Pemaquid Point, Maine on the ship Angel Gabriel. Jonathan was the sixth child of Lt. Jacob and Ruth (Morse) Blasdel; he was about eight years of age when his family moved from Tamworth, NH in 1799 to the Ohio River Valley near Cincinnati and finally in 1804 settled on land on Tanners Creek near what was later Guilford, Dearborn County, Indiana. He served in the War of 1812. He was 67 years, 6 months and 22 days old at his death. He married Nancy Cooper on 14 Sep 1815 in Dearborn County, IN. He and Nancy had 11 children: (1) Eleanor Cooper Blasdel who married Silas Emerson Nowlin; (2) Ruth Blasdel who married Hiram Jackson; (3) Ezra Blasdel who apparently never married; (4) Susanna May Blasdel who married Levi Crosby; (5) Melissa Graves Blasdel who married Lafayette Cox; (6) Nancy Elizabeth Blasdel who married John James Marsh; (7) Jacob William Blasdel who married Mary Frances Sluss; (8) Mariah Blasdel who died at birth; (9) Jonathan Lewis Blasdel who married Mary Jane Rounds; (10) James Majes Blasdel who married Catherine Subina Eubank; and (11) Betsey "Betty" Blasdel who married John William Eubank.
