Thomas Upton Anders, or Tommy, was born in Louisiana. His parents were George G. and Carrie Anders. (1900 Census Winn Co., LA) In 1916, he was married to Minnie Belle Campbell Denman, daughter of James Campbell and Laura Melton of Nacogdoches, Texas. (Minnie was previously married to Gilbert Felix Denman and they had 3 children: Rose, Fred and Tommy and Minnie were married there. Their daughter, Aleen, was born in Nacogdoches in 1917. They removed to Tempson Valley, Shelby Co., Texas, where their son, Opel Upton "Andy", was born. While in Tempson Valley, Tommy registered for the draft for WWI
