BAXTER – Funeral services for Raymond Richmon "Doc" Burgess, 68, of Baxter will be held Tuesday, August 16, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Smellage Cemetery.
Mr. Burgess died Sunday, August 14, 1994, in Smith County Memorial Hospital.
Son of the late Brascom and Mary Alice Minnear Burgess, he was born in Jackson County on September 9, 1925. Mr. Burgess was a pipeline foreman.
His family includes his wife, Alice Faye McCall Burgess of Baxter; one son, Larry W. Burgess of North Carolina; two daughters, Linda Carol Daniels of Baxter and Susan Diane Cagle of Dyersburg; two brothers, Magellan Burgess of Maryland and Ward Burgess of Baxter; special friend, Buck Herald of Baxter, and four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Raymond R. Burgess II; three sisters, Ollie
Buchanan, Hallie Philpot and Hatha Vison; and three brothers, A. B. "Baugh", Jess Willard and Ralph U.
