A telegraphic dispatch last Friday morning to relatives in Harrisonburg
announced the very sudden death of Mrs. Fannie
Grove Saum, which occurrcd at a late hour Thursday night at her home in Mt.
Her remains were brought here for interment Friday evening. The deceased was a
daughter of Robert and Susan M. Bowman, both deceased, who were well known
residents of Harrisonburg.
In 1884 she married Mr. E K Saum, brother of John R Saum, of Harrisonburg. Most
of her married life was spent in Mt. Jackson,
except for a short interval when they resided in Washington City.
She had been a member of the Methodist church from childhood and was noted for
piety and a gentle disposition.
Had she lived two days longer she would have attained the age of thirty eight
She leaves two brothersMessrs. James H. and Joseph C. Bowmanand two
sistersMrs. W. H. Billhimer and Miss Flora Bowmanin Harrisonburg, and a third
brother, Charles P. Bowman, of Lexington.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, at which Rev. J.B. Hamaker, of
the Disciples' church, assisted by Rev. J.A. Anderson,
