CLEAR LAKE, S.D. — Funeral services for Mrs. Gina F. Schulz, 89, of Clear Lake, S.D., and formerly of Waubay, S.D., were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday (Nov. 21, 2005) at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, S.D., with the Rev. Michael Enderle officiating.

Mrs. Schulz passed away on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at the Deuel County Good Samaritan Home in Clear Lakes, S.D. She was the widow of Mr. Erwin Schulz. Burial was in Lakewood Cemetery, Waubay, S.D. Pallbearers were Nick Korth, Chris Korth, Matt Maass, Tanner Willard, Darin Laqua and Todd Pieper. Music was provided by Ruth Enderle, organist.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Houseman-Eng Funeral Home in Clear Lake, S.D., and on Monday prior to the service at the church.

Gina was born on Aug. 20, 1916, in Day County, S.D., to William and Tilda (Larson) Thompson. As a child, she moved with her family to a farm north of Florence, S.D., She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On Aug. 4, 1937, she was united in marriage to Erwin Schulz. Following their marriage, they farmed near Waubay until poor health caused them to move first to Watertown in 1949 and then Waubay in 1951. In 1985, they moved to Clear Lake, S.D., On Oct. 9, 1985, Erwin passed away. Gina continued to live in Clear Lake and entered the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center on Sept. 9, 2005. She passed away there on Nov. 17 at the age of 89 years, two months and 28 days.

Gina was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, S.D. She was a grand lady, a great mother, grandmother, and friend to everyone she met. She was a talented seamstress and cook; and shared her beautiful quilts, baby clothes, homemade bread and pies with many friends and relatives. She had a great sense of humor and loved life.

Her church was very important to her and looked forward to Pastor Enderle's many visits and listened to his Lord Day Program on the radio. She read her daily devotions and shared her views on the Bible with everyone.

She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Margaret (Jack) Willard of Clear Lake, S.D., and Carol (Pastor Daird) Korth of Ventura, Iowa; two granddaughters and three grandsons; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, Jordon, whom she got to see a few weeks before she died; many nieces, nephews and four very special friends, Sharon, Liz, Betty and Mert.

She was preceded in death by her husband Erwin, parents, one sister and four brothers.
