James Marvin Hall, 84, of New Haven, died on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at Thomason-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvah Gregory and Estells Lee Seward Hall; brothers, Andrew, Lawrence and Raphael Hall; and sisters, Pauline Clark, Joanne Hornback, Martha Hall, Regina Stewart and Betty Jane Cecil. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Helen Rogers Hall; two sons, Joey (Donna) Hall of Louisville and Ricky (Vickie) Hall of Brooks; six daughters, Gerry (Cam) Willis, of Carmel, Ind., Diane (John) Thompson of Shepherdsville, Julie (Bob) Hesketh of Louisville, Joanna (Roger) Bradley of Bardstown, Ann (Butch) McHenry of Louisville and Margaret (Mike) Boone of Louisville; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Louis (Dorothy) Hall of Bardstown, David (Jean) Hall and Larry (Phyllis) Hall, both of New Haven; and sisters, Teresa Bowling of Louisville and Joyce (Happy) Greenwell of Bardstown. Funeral Mass was at 9 A.M. on Thursday, Feb. 10, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. Visitation was from 1-9 P.M. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven.

James Marvin Hall, 84, New Haven, died Monday, February 7, 2011, after a long battle with Alzheimers, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore. He was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, a US veteran of the Navy serving in World War II, serving on the LST 799 as Radar Man 2nd Class. He was retired from Seagram’s Distillery and the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. He was born April 3, 1926. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvah Gregory & Estella Lee Seward Hall; three brothers, Andrew Hall, Lawrence Hall and Raphael Hall; and five sisters, Pauline Clark, Joanne Hornback, Martha Hall, Regina Stewart and Betty Jane Cecil. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Helen “Baby Doll” “Sis” Rogers Hall; two sons, Joey (Donna) Hall, Louisville, and Ricky (Vickie) Hall, Brooks; six daughters, Gerry (Cam) Willis, Carmel, IN, Diane (John) Thompson, Shepherdsville, Julie (Bob) Hesketh, Louisville, Joanna (Roger) Bradley, Bardstown, Ann (Butch) McHenry, Louisville, and Margaret (Mike) Boone, Louisville; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; three brothers, Louis (Dorothy) Hall, Bardstown, David (Jean) Hall, New Haven, and Larry (Phyllis) Hall, New Haven; and two sisters, Teresa Browning, Louisville, and Joyce (Happy) Greenwell, Bardstown. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be 9 A.M. Thursday at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, New Haven, with the Rev. Troy Overton, pastor, officiating. Cremation was chosen. Visitation is 1-8 P.M. Wednesday at William R. Rust Funeral Home, New Haven. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity, St. Catherine School, New Haven, or the Alzheimer’s Association. William R. Rust Funeral Home, New Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
