Forrest Laity, 93, a lifetime Ada area farmer, passed away Monday, January 29, 1979 at the Ottawa County Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born November 27, 1885 at Ada, to James Laity and Elvira Horton Laity. He was united in marriage to Phebe Vergason. She preceded him in death in 1952. He married Mrs. Lenna Hormel in 1956. He was a member of the Baptist church.

He is survived by his wife, Lenna; by one daughter, Mrs. Elene Cossel of Tescott; by one step-son Ralph Hormel of Olathe; by four step-daughters, Mrs. Doris Clark of Colby, Mrs. Frances Stone of Garden City, Mrs. Margaret Krey of Amarillo, Texas, and Mrs. Jean Lewis of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Balliff of Cambridge, Indiana; 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-great grandchildren.
He was also precede in death by one son, Melvin.

Services were conducted Thursday, February 1, from the Shields Funeral Home with the Rev. Maynard Falk officiating. Keith Bacon was vocalist, with Mrs. Lloyd Pruitt serving as organist. Casket bearers were Doug Baccus, Larry Baccus, Ralph Hormel, Loyal Clark, John Krey, and LeRoy Pickering. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery at Ada.
