Native Of City Dies In Oshkosh Hospital; Former Road Worker
Jay A. Dyer, 79, died at 5:15 a.m. today at Alexian Brothers home, Oshkosh, following a lengthy illness.
Born March 22, 1878, in Fond du Lac, son of Andrew and Mary McDermott Dyer, he was married to Miss Emma Henning on Jan. 1, 1902, at Eldorado, where they since had lived.
Mr. Dyer was associated with Paul Boulay in the Eldorado Grain and Fuel company and a grocery store. He also was postmaster for 15 years. From 1933 to 1943, he worked for the United States soil conservation service. Mr. Dyer was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Eldorado.
Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Derrick Turnipseed, Newport R. t., and Mrs. Edward Koepke, and Mrs. Elton Zickert, both of Eldorado; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Miss Anna Dyer, Miss Genevieve Dyer, and Mrs. Martha Gilbride, all of San Franciso. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at the Candlish Chapel Sunday. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church, Eldorado, with the Rev. John Knotek officiating. Burial will be in Rosendale Cemetery.
