Marion W. Bowen, 83, died at the Asbury Hospital in Salina Thursday, January 4, 1962, after a long illness. He was born at Barnard, September 11, 1878, and lived all his life in Saline and Ottawa Counties. He was a retired farmer and laborer. He married Celia J. Redding, who with one daughter, Alice preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Chester of Salina, the Rev. Kenneth Bowen of Vallejo, Calif., three daughters, Nan Lewis, of Stockton, Calif., Mrs. Glen Moon, of Salina, Mrs. Will Trow, of Culver; one brother, Webb Bowen, of Natoma, Kansas; one sister, Cora Kidd, of Sugar City, Colo; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Grace Baptist Temple in Salina. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, January 6, at Guy Ryan Mortuary, with the Rev. Harold C. Jane officiating. Music was furnished by Gary Joyce who sang " Good Morning Up There," and " I'll not Cross Jorday Alone," accompanied by Janetta Jayne, organist.

Pallbearers were Harold Parsons, Raymond Cox, Roy Benson, Gail Reeves, John Jones, and Sam Jarvin. Interment was in the Franklin Cemetery near Tescott.
