Robert L. Campbell, 97, Frankfort died January 31, 2011 at Wesley Manor.

Mr. Campbell was born February 6, 1913 in Frankfort to Abner Caruthers Campbell II and Hazel Vaska (Lucas) Campbell. He married E. Pauline Stewart on September 7, 1935 in Frankfort and she preceded him in death on May 2, 2009.

Mr. Campbell attended Frankfort High School. A lifelong Frankfort resident, he also spent several winters in Sun City, Ariz. He served in the National Guard from 1930-1937. Mr. Campbell was an engineer and fireman on the Nickel Plate Railroad, retiring in 1975 after 33 years. He was a 39-year member of the Moose Lodge and a member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Union. He enjoyed Hot Dog basketball, stereo theater type sound, jazz music and loved to golf.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen Bowerman of Lafayette and Sue Kelsey (Jack) of West Point; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister, Dorothy O'Dell.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home until time of service at 2 p.m.

Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery.
