Mr. Rohrer worked as a design engineer for the Truscon Division of Republic Steel for 28 years before retiring in 1975 and had previously worked for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 6 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he was the Council Vice President purchasing agent.
Charles graduated from Penn State in 1941, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. While at Penn State he was a standout on the wrestling team and was a member of the Varsity Society. He was a member of the Hillman Lodge #481, the Neshannock Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the Hubbard Historical Society and the Penn State Alumni Association. Charles enjoyed trout fishing, woodworking, traveling, having attended 42 elder hostels and Habitat for Humanity.
Charles was a former member of the Hubbard Church Men's Bowling League for 45 years and also the Hubbard Men's Garden Club.
He leaves his wife, the former Arlene Leaman, whom he married December 6, 1941 and a son, Douglas Rohrer of Hubbard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harry Rohrer and six sisters, Mary Gummo, Anna Kahn, Ruth Moore, Esther Mentzer, Helen Hoffecker and Catherine Brubaker.
Memorial services will be held Saturday February 12, at Grace Lutheran Church. There are no calling hours.
