Glenn G. Mummert, 72, of Boise died Thursday, April 22, 2004 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004 at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N Cloverdale Rd., Boise. Viewing will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Glenn was born on Nov. 27, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wis. to J. Perry and Mabel Mummert. When he was young, his family left Wisconsin and moved to Iowa and later Portland during World War II, and later came to Boise. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1950 after enlisting in the National Guard in 1949 when he was 17 years old. He worked for American Linen, Eddy's Bread and the Broadway Drive Inn theater. He later went to work for the Idaho Army National Guard, where he was a small arms repairman for his 36-year professional career with the Guard. He married Darline Palmer on Nov. 26 1952 and they had three sons and later divorced. He married Patt Knopes on June 28, 1971. Glenn was a master gunsmith and guns were his passion and he was an avid student of history and World War II. Glenn is survived by his wife Patt of Boise; sons Mike Mummert and wife Anita of Kennewick, Wash., and Randy Mummert and wife Diane of Boise; daughter Rhonda VanLydegraf and husband Terry of Boise; two brothers, Don Mummert of Boise and Jim Mummert of Marsing; and sister Blanche D. Trupp of Caldwell. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Sheri lannazzo of Kuna, Brandy Trammel of Caldwell, Kelsey Mummert of Kennewick and Theron Lee VanLydergraf of Boise; and great-granddaughter Nicole Crutchfield of Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Marty Mummert. The family would like to thank Hospice's Joy, Kay, Joan, Kenette and Bill for all of their great care and concern for Glenn during his illness. Also, Dr. Terry Ribbens and his nurse, Michelle, Dr. Paul Montgomery and staff at MSTI.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St Luke's Hospice, 190 E Bannock, Boise, Idaho 83712.
