Abner Alphonso Greer, Jr., 82, of Boone, died Friday evening, December 21, 2001 at Watauga Medical Center.
Born September 16, 1919 in Custer County, Oklahoma to Abner Alphonso "Fonso" and Doris Billings Greer.
Abner was a descendant of a family that settled and lived in the Watauga area since before the Revolutionary War.
He was a graduate of Leedy High School in Leedy, Oklahoma and attended Idaho State University. He was a member of Willowdale Baptist Church.
Mr. Greer is survived by three sisters, two brothers and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at the Willowdale Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Chuck Edmondson. Burial was at the Adams Cemetery.
