Anchorage resident Kenneth Maze, 35, died Feb. 5, 2006, at his home. A graveside service with military honors was held at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
Mr. Maze was born Oct. 21, 1970, in Palmer to Douglas Maze and Hilda Hanna. He moved to Anchorage when he was 5 years old. He graduated from Service High School in Anchorage and then served three years in the U.S. Army. He was overseas during Desert Storm, and was then honorably discharged. Before his military service, he was employed by JandH Maintenance and Repair. In 1994, he was involved in a motorcycle accident. After the accident, he was a part of the family business AAA Billiards Sales and Service until his death. Before his accident, he played the saxophone and enjoyed hiking, fishing and the outdoors. Mr. Maze's family wrote: "Ken loved riding his motorcycle and taking care of his friends. Ken was always available to lend a hand or a dollar. He was proud of his military service during Desert Storm and considered it a very important part of his life. It was Ken's delight to visit with his grandparents and swap stories. A more giving person would be hard to find. The hole left by his early departure will be very difficult to fill. Ken was Mom's buddy and his brother's friend. Kenneth considered his stepfather as his dad. His spirit will never leave us."
Mr. Maze is survived by his mother and stepfather, Hilda and Jerry Hanna of Anchorage; brother, Russ Maze; grandparents, Bernard and Daisy Swoboda, all of Anchorage; aunts and uncles in Anchorage; and relatives in South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Maze. Arrangements are with Anchorage Funeral Home.
