Emma Wedgwood was born in Maer Hall, Staffordshire. She was the granddaughter of Josiah Wedgwood, the famous potter, and the wife of Charles Darwin, the equally celebrated naturalist. Although Charles is buried in Westminster Abbey, his brother, Erasmus, lies in the same tomb as Emma.
