BOY SCOUT AT MIDVALE SUCCUMBS TO PNEUMONIA

Midvale - Sept. 3 - Parley Elbert Matthews, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Matthews, died at the family home this evening of pneumonia after a brief illness.
The youth, who was a member of Boy Scout troop No. 118, left Midvale Wednesday morning with other members of the troop and Scoutmaster Paul E. Dahl for an outing in Dell canyon. He was not well when he left home and Wednesday afternoon was compelled to take to his cot. His condition was worse Thursday and he was returned to his home. After his return his condition appeared to improve and his death today was unexpected.
The boy is survived by his parents and one brother, Weldon. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
