PONTOTOC~~~~~Marvin Lamar Morrison, 86, of Pontotoc, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Pontotoc Hospital.

He was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Pontotoc County to Lawrence Morrison and Lillian Owen Morrison. During his earlier years, he farmed until starting his own business. He started ML Morrison amp& Sons Service Station on Main Street, where he worked for the past 59 years. He was an active member of the Civitan Club, and he enjoyed bird hunting and fishing. He was highly thought of by everyone who knew him. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church, where he served as an usher for more than 40 years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at West Heights Baptist Church with Dr. David Hamilton and Bro. Dan Young officiating. Burial will be in West Heights Cemetery. Baldwin-Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Nellie Rose Corder Morrison; six daughters, Joyce Warren (Dexter) and Patsy Collums, both of Pontotoc, Lena Cherry (Harvey) of Calera, Ala., Nelda Brisco of Memphis, Myra Humphries (Donny) of Cranford, N.J. and June McKnight (Ray) of Pontotoc; two sons, James Ray Morrison and Lamar Morrison, both of Pontotoc; one sister, Marie Robbins (Wylie) of Memphis; two brothers, Clinton Morrison (Alice) and Walter Morrison (Jean), both of Pontotoc; sister-in-law, Ethel Morrison of Pontotoc; brother-in-law, John Owen of Bruce; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Oudie Pennington Morrison; and one brother, Gerney Morrison
