Nels Larson of Eglon Township died at about seven in the evening on May 20th 1905. He had been ailing for a long time with Asthma and this together with his old age was the cause of his demise. Nels was the son of a shoemaker, Born in Telemark, Norway in 1827. He came to America in 1851.
Nels was one of the early settlers of the county and one of the faithful tillers of the soil during all the time he resided there. He was a brick maker
He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, having served three years in the country's defense during the Civil War Mustering in Jan. 30 1864 at camp Washburn, Milwaukee Wisconsin to Co. F 35th Wisconsin Inf. He mustered out march 15th 1866 at Brownsville, Texas. After the war he moved to Eglon Township, Clay County, Minnesota.
He married Kjesti Myrenne in 1853, they had four boys Ole, Louis, Nels, and Andrew. They also had two daughters louisa and caroline.

The funeral was held in his home and burial followed at solem Church Cemetery.
