Emma D. Brown, 91, the widow of Charles E. Brown, Sr., died Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center, Lexington.

Born at Deantown (Troy) in Jessamine Co., she was a daughter and last living of eleven children of the late Monroe, Sr and America Mosby Williams.

Mrs. Brown had been a nursing assistant at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. She was a member of the St. Paul AME Church and a War Mother.

Survivors include children, five daughters, Barbara Parker and Tommie Cole of Versailles, Mary Toller, Myrtle (Harold) Granville, Charlene (James) Henderson, all of Lexington, two sons, Charles E. (Geraldine) Brown Jr. of Versailles, and Willey O. (Dorice) Brown of Nicholasville, 21 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers-in-law, Thomas G. Brown of Versailles, Joe Lewis of Cincinnati, OH, numerous nieces and nephews including Mose (Florence) Johnson of Ohio, Jessie Lowry of Ohio, and several cousins including Susie Mosby of Lexington and Nannie Helm of Versailles. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, February 5 at St. Paul AME Church with Rev. James E. Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Steele Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of St. Paul AME Church. Visitation is after 11:00 am until time of service Saturday, at the church.
