LIFE-LONG RESIDENT DIES FRIDAY EVENING
J. F. Hochstein of Bow Valley Buried Monday Morning

J. F. Hochstein, prominent farmer living in the Bow Valley community and lifelong resident of the county, died Friday evening of heart afflication at his home after a short illness. Funeral rites were held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at the Bow Valley church with Rev. Fr. A. Strubach presiding at the mass.

Born on what is now the Tony Heimes place, then owned by his uncle, Frank Hochstein, on February 26, 1867, Mr. Hochstein spent his boyhood in the community and continued to live in the county during his entire lifetime. He was the son of Joseph Hochstein, well-remembered pioneer of north Cedar county, and had lived thru many hardships of pioneer life during early childhood.

On July 2, 1901, he married Miss Maria Arens, whose parents were also pioneers. Their wedding ceremony was performed by Rev. Fr. Birnbach, the priest who presided at the Funeral Rites of the husband almost 20 years later.

Mr. Hochstein was the father of nine children who survive him, Rudolph on the old house place, Leonard of Pincher Creek, Canada, Edward, Harry, Marie, Frances, Ernest, Raymond and Veronica. He also leaves his wife, one sister, Mrs. Theresa Heppner of Pincher Creek, Canada, and two brothers, Peter of Bow Valley and Louis, east of Hartington.
