James Egenolf

James Egenolf, 66, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at his residence in Johnson County.

He was born in Indianapolis. His parents were George John and Leona (Worland) Egenolf. He married Eileen F. (Alhand) Egenolf on Sept. 26, 1959, in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death May 14, 2004. Survivors include three daughters, Diane Swint of Whiteland and Donna Scheidler and Joan Sledge, both of Greenwood; a son, Michael Egenolf of Bargersville; three brothers, George Egenolf of Worthington, Robert Egenolf of Texas and Joseph Egenolf of Greenwood; a sister, Helen Patterson of Greenwood; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul F. Egenolf; and two sisters, Anna Mayre Boner and Ruth Peaper.

He was a 1956 graduate of Southport High School.

He co-owned and operated Egenolf Machine and Egenolf Contracting and Rigging for 48 years.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, Machinist Union 161 and Iron Workers 22. He was a Fourth Degree Knight at Knights of Columbus Council 3660 and a member of Valley Riders Saddle Club. He was a member and served as president of the Johnson County Fair Board for two terms.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

A prayer service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135, with Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, 335 S. Meridian St. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County 4-H Horse and Pony Club, 80 S. Jackson St., Franklin, IN 46131, or Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church Gym Fund, 335 S. Meridian St., Greenwood, IN 46143.
