Arkansas Confederate Pensions, 1901-1929; Evidence of Physician: I, J H Pinson, a duly registered and practicing Physician, do certify that I am acquainted with J C Reed and that he is incapacitated for manual labor by reason of a wound in the left side ranging from corner end of chest ?????. (at this point, the rest is hard to read but he does say something about his two lower ribs) - dated: 19 May 1893

Arkansas Confederate Pensions, 1901-1929 - On this day came before the undersigned, George W Moore & Will Jones certify to be credible persons, are acquainted with J C Reed and have known him all his life. That he was a Confederate soldier, belonged to Company G 3rd, regiment of Ark. Vol. and that he was wounded in said service at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. That this information we derive from the following sources: belonging to the same company and being present when he was wounded. (Dated: 20 May 1893)

Arkansas Confederate Pensions, 1901-1929 - J C Reed • Military Service, Event Date: 20 May 1893 • Three Creeks, Union, Arkansas, United States - J C Reed enlisted 19 June 1861 in Three Creeks Company G of the 3 Regiment of Arkansas Vol. commanded by Alberto Rust in the service of the Confederate States. In the line of duty at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on or about the 2nd of July 1863, he received a gunshot wound in the left side ranging from the sternum in front raping(?) through the body and cutting the spinal column just below the ribs. (Dated: 20 May 1893)
