RAIFORD H. "RAY" SWISHER
Raiford H. (Ray) Swisher, 47, of 1505 Pythian av., prominent in Springfield insurance circles, Masonic activities and civic interests, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday in Mercy Hospital of a heart condition.
Mr. Swisher was reported to have been playing tennis Saturday when he was taken ill. He was admitted to Mercy Hospital at 8:05 p.m. His condition was believed not serious until just before his death.
Mr. Swisher was associated with the Guarantee Mutual Insurance Co., 120 W. High st.
He was a member of Anthony Lodge No. 455 F. and A. M., a past master of that lodge, a member of the Springfield Chapter and Springfield Council and Palestine Commandery, as well as a member of the Antioch Shrine Temple at Dayton.
He served on the Clark County Traffic Safety Committee and was active in launching the county-wide auto safety campaign in May.
Born in Union City, Ind., Aug. 18, 1906, a son of Calvin and Ivy Swisher, he had resided in Springfield for 30 years, and was a graduate of Springfield High School.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Swisher, a daughter, Linda Rae, at home; his mother, Mrs. Ivy Swisher, and a sister, Mrs. Isabel Climer, both of Utica, N. Y.
The body was taken to the Richards Memorial Home.

Body then to First Baptist Church to lie in state one hour prior to services there 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Dr. Edgar F. Drumel, pastor. Anthony Lodge No. 455, F. and A. M. committal services at Ferncliff Cemetery.
