F. S. Harris Widow Dies at 89

F. Estella Spilsbury Harris, 89, widow of former Brigham Young University and Utah State University President Franklin S. Harris, died of natural causes Sunday in Salt Lake City.

Mrs. Harris was born Feb. 17, 1884, in Toquerville, Washington County, a daughter of George Moroni and Roselia Haight Spilsbury. She graduated from BYU and was a school teacher in Price.

She married Mr. Harris June 18, 1908, in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She accompanied her husband to Ithaca, N.Y., where he attended Cornell University and moved to Provo in 1921 when Mr. Harris was made president of BYU. She traveled with her husband to Iran from 1939-1940 and from 1950-1952. He died in 1960.

She is survived by sons and daughters, Franklin S. Harris, Jr., Hampton, Va.; Chauncy D., Chicago; Mrs. R. A. (Arlene) Grover, Mrs. R. O. (Mildred) Bradley, both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. R. (Helen) Jenson, Lafayette, Calif.; Mrs. V. (Leah) Jensen, Pocatello; 43 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren; a brother, Erwin Spilsbury.
