William a northern Irish Protestant was born in Londonderry, Ireland. In return for services of his family to the Crown at the Battle of Boyne, they received lands in the New England Colonies.William, who may have also spelled his name "Trowbridge" was a blacksmith. He acquired land in Middleboro in Plymouth County on 3 December 1728, and was founder of the first church of Lakeville in October 1725, Later in life, he remained loyal to the British Crown and was a Tory during the Revolution.
William died in the West Parish of Middleborough, Plymouth county, Massachusetts, USA. (Today, the West Parish is the town of Lakeville.)
