Albert Runnels DAVIS was born on his parent's farmstead on the banks of Lake Emily in Kasota Township, Le Sueur County when Minnesota was still a Territory. Statehood came 11 May 1858.

Albert married 1st Matilda 'Tillie' Agusta STARK on 22 October 1878 in St. Peter, Nicollet County, Minnesota. 2 children were born to this union:
1. Bernice Hermoine DAVIS born 22 June 1880
2. Melville Runnels DAVIS born 3 December 1881
'Tillie' Matilda Agusta STARK DAVIS died on
18 June 1882 in St. Peter, Nicollet County, Minnesota.

Albert is buried with his 3rd wife and daughter Lillas.

The DAVIS / MORSE monument is shared with the MORSE family who are related to 3rd wife. One side is carved with the surname DAVIS and the other side MORSE. Albert Runnels DAVIS footstone reads simply ("A. R. D." 1857 - 1919)

"HAS JOINED THE GREAT MAJORITY

ALBERT R. DAVIS CALLED TO HIS EXTERNAL REST LAST TUESDAY.

The Funeral Was Held Last Friday Afternoon.

The funeral services for Albert R. DAVIS, whose spirit left its earthly home last Tuesday evening and entered the door of eternity, were held at the Presbyterian church last Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The interment was made in Woodlawn cemetery. Mr. DAVIS was one of the best-known citizens of St. Peter, having been born and grown to manhood in this vicinity, and where he spent his life. For the past few years he has not been in good health and about a year ago he began failing considerably. For the past two weeks he has been in a semi-comatose state, and the end was not unexpected. Early in life he associated himself with the Presbyterian church in this city, and served as superintendent of the Sunday school and later became one of the officials of the church, and was at all times active in church work.
He was 62 years of age, having been born at Lake Emily, Le Sueur county, on April 26, 1857. He recieved his education in the public schools of our city, and also took the commercial course at Gustavus..."
