SMSgt Johnny Lee Griffin, 72, entered into rest on Thursday, February 3, 2011.

Mr. Griffin was born on November 21, 1938 in Eatonton. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty-four years as a Nuclear Weapons Superintendent, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. After his military career, he worked as a Weapons Specialist in civil service and retired from Robins Air Force Base. A jack of all trades and certified heating and air technician, his favorite pastime was serving his family and friends. As a member of Second Baptist Church, he coached softball for the Second Baptist Seekers. He also spent many years coaching baseball for his son and grandson.. His parents, Oscar Griffin and Zonia Eller Griffin, and three siblings, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Patricia Irene McMichael Griffin; son, Ricky Griffin (Kathy), Macon; daughter, Patti McLain (Robert), Warner Robins; grandchildren, Eric Griffin, Justin McLain, Macee McLain and Bonnie Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Carrie Griffin, Daniel Sanchez and Jordan Cervantes; sisters, Juanita Payne, Commerce, and Sylvia Carlan (Odell), Lawrenceville; and brother, Harold Griffin (Sue), Eatonton.
