Served in the U.S. Navy for over 30 yrs. He was an WWII veteran. Went from Pearl Harbor, Hawaii to Japan. His ship the USS Hammann was torpedoed and sunk trying to save the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown on June 6,1942 during the Battle Of Midway.
