Son of Robinson Dilworth [1830-1913] and Elizabeth Hickie.
Robinson Dilworth, son of James Dilworth married Elizabeth Hickie on 11th April 1854, at Moy, Co. Armagh.

in the 1901 census, the Dilworth family were living at Burrow, Howth, Co. Dublin. The large house had 12 rooms.
present were,
William Dilworth, aged 38, a Professor of mathematics and Finance, born in Co. Louth.
Tempe Dilworth, his wife, aged 31, born in Co. Dublin.
Grace Dilworth, daughter, aged 4.
Robert Dilworth, son, aged 3.
Tempe Dilworth, daughter, aged 1.
un-named Dilworth, son, aged 2 days.
Isabella Kildahl, sister-in-law, aged 23, born in Dublin.

A maternity nurse, and 2 servants were also present.

in the 1911 census, the Dilworth family were living at 15, Seafield Road, Clontarf, Co. Dublin. The house had 8 rooms.
present were,
William Dilworth, aged 48, a Civil Servant, secretary of the Board of National Education, born in Co. Louth.
Mary Tempe Dilworth, his wife, aged 41, born in Co. Dublin.
They had been married 15 years, and had 5 children all of whom were living.

Tempe Kildahl Dilworth, daughter, aged 11.
Claude Stanley Dilworth, son, aged 10.
Helen Maud Dilworth, son, aged 7.

in 1911, Robert Kildahl Dilworth, aged 13, a scholar, was living at Burrow South, Howth, Co. Dublin with the Hunter family. William and Helen Hunter described Robert as a nephew.

At some time after William's death, Mary moved to Palmerston Road, Rathmines.
