COLLEYVILLE -- Robert Clay Bearden III, 56, of Colleyville, Texas, died on Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at his home.

Robert was born Dec. 28, 1944, to Robert C. Jr. and Drusilla Jones Bearden. He married Gay Luckie in 1981. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Suzanne Bearden.

He was a graduate of Midland High School and attended Texas A&M University. He was a graduate of Sul Ross University in 1967 with a bachelors degree majoring in art. He was a recipient of a Braniff Art Scholarship. He received an M.B.A. degree with a major in administration from Texas A&M University at Prairie View.

Bob was a teacher for the Dallas Independent School District for 28 years until his death. At South Oak Cliff High School where he taught for 10 years, he was awarded Teacher of the Year and received many other awards in recognition of his service over that 10 years.

Bob was an avid hunter, shooter and student of American history and politics. He was a gifted maker of pottery and jewelry and was a gourmet cook among his many talents and interests.

His mechanical talents included gun-smithing, maintenance, repair and restoration of exotic automobiles, motorcycles and to his home.

Survivors include his wife, Gay Luckie Bearden of Colleyville; his parents, Robert C. Jr. and Drusilla J. Bearden of San Angelo; twin daughters, Mecca Martha Bearden and Hayden Hannah Bearden of Decatur and Rachel Catherine Bearden of the home; uncle and aunt, Dudley and Joyce Penny of Linden and aunt, Mildred Sandel of Dallas; and many cousins.

Service was conducted by his cousin, Representative Ray Allen of Grand Prairie, with eulogy by Ron Romanchek of Dallas. Music was by Joy Patterson and Antoinette Luckie.

Interment was in Lonesome Dove Cemetery, Grapevine, Texas, on Oct. 15.
