Thomas' Pension Certificate contained within wife Anna's file states: "Thomas Paine of Pownal in the District of Maine who was a Sergeant in the regiment commanded by Colonel Alden of the Massachusetts line for term 3 years. Inscribed on the Roll of Maine at the rate of Eight Dollars per month to commence on 28th of April 1818". Widow's Pension NO. W21927.

His services during the Revolutionary War were as follows: Served early in the Revolution in Captain Bradish's Company in Colonel Ed Phinney's Massachusetts Regiment. Was at Cambridge on October 20, 1775. In 1776, served in Captain Lowell's Massachusetts Company. Enlisted February 7, 1777, served as Sergeant in Captain Lane's Company in Colonels Alden's and Brook's Seventh Massachusetts Regiment. Was discharged from Military Service on February 9, 1780. Pension Record W21927.

Directions Information received in 1992 indicated that Cemetery is located behind Pownal Post Office. Graves Registration Form indicates Lot 57 and Grave Number as Rear Center 46.
