John was a twin son of Abel Miller Peoples and Sarah Margaret Stewart. He was married three times: (1) Mary Elizabeth Peeples (2) Elizabeth Jane Couts, and (3) Mary J. Miller. The father of nine children, he was a farmer near where he grew up. John died at the home of his daughter, Eva Berndt, in Canton of organic heart disease and senility.
