Nellie, the daughter of Henry Clay and Martha (Johnson) Abbott, married Frank Enick James in Seneca, Newton Co, MO on June 30, 1903.

Their daughter, Millie, was born in 1905 and their son, Abbott Alonzo, known as Bud, was born on July 5, 1907.

They were living in Joplin at 2316 Kentucky when Frank, age 37, registered for WWI on Sept. 12, 1918. He was self employed in the ice business. Over the years Frank continued to make a living for his family as owner and operator of an ice company.

News about their 25th wedding anniversary was published in the Joplin Globe on Sunday, July 1, 1928, which follows:

"The twenty-fifth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. James, 2316 Kentucky Avenue, was the occasion of a delightful evening bridge given in their honor by their daughter and son, Miss Roemilta James and Alonzo James, at Sagmount Inn Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cloonan, and Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Havens held the high scores, and honor awards were present to Mr. and Mrs. James.

Following bridge, a wedding supper was served in the dining room at one large table, surrounded by four smaller ones. A wedding cake, surrounded by smilax and lighted tapers decorated the center table, where the honor guests were seated. Place cards were diminutive brides, and other appointments carried out the wedding bell motif. In addition to the above mentioned were the following guests: Messrs. and Mesdames R.E. Smith of Webb City, J.W. Power, J.L. Sims, W.S. Phillips, J.P. Frank, C.H. Havens, M.W. Farran, John Morgan, Walter Arcularius and H.W. Bauer."

Frank died on August 19, 1957. Bud died in West Plains, MO on April 12, 1989.
