Emma Fahrenbruch
Emma Fahrenbruch, 92, of Greeley died Monday, March 8, at Bonell Good Samaritan Center, Greeley.
She was born April 30, 1911, in Oberdorf, Saratov, Russia, to G.F. and Anna (Fischer) Schneider.
On Feb. 7, 1935, she married David Fahrenbruch at St. Paul's Congregational Church, Greeley. He died March 26, 1973.
Mrs. Fahrenbruch came to the United States with her mother, two older brothers, Alex and Henry, her maternal grandparents, Henry and Catherina Fischer, and three maternal aunts, arriving in New York on Nov. 11, 1911, aboard the George Washington. Her father had preceded the family to the Fort Collins area as a sugar beet laborer. She was raised in the Ault area, where she attended school and spent many days working in the fields beside her brothers, then tending the meals, cleanup and laundry. She completed the eighth grade and was confirmed in the Ault Congregational Church.
After their marriage, the Fahrenbruchs farmed in Greeley. She was a helpmate on the farm with horse teams and working in the fields. In 1952, they moved into Greeley, where she worked outside the home at the Weld County Hospital and Kuner Empson Cannery during sweet corn season.
Mrs. Fahrenbruch's loved quilting and she shared many quilts with her family. She also shared dozens of embroidered dishtowel sets and baby receiving blankets with hand-crocheted edges. She loved flowers and gardening and enjoyed family gatherings.
A member of St. Paul's Congregational Church, she enjoyed the Ladies Aid activities until she was unable to attend. She was a resident of Bonell for more than six years and enjoyed the chapel and activities there.
Survivors are a daughter, Florance Kammerzell and husband Larry of Greeley; two sons, Larry Duane Fahrenbruch of Green Valley, Ariz., and Melvin Fahrenbruch and wife Rosanne of Falcon; a brother, Edward F. Schneider and wife Ruth of Greeley; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Joyce Ann; daughter-in-law Barbara Fahrenbruch; a sister, Edna Hilzer, and four brothers, Alex, Henry, Roy and Albert, are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's. Interment will be in Linn Grove Cemetery, Greeley.
Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. today at the Adamson Memorial West Chapel.
